Rules and Etiquette

These must be followed at all times to ensure safety and to allow maximum use of training times

General for all classes:

ALWAYS LISTEN TO AND OBEY THE INSTRUCTOR

  • No food, chewing gum or sweets.
  • All mobile phones must be turned off.
  • No talking, unless instructed to.
  • Always wear clean, ironed clothing.
  • Always ask permission to leave the training area.
  • Do not train with a serious injury or illness (serious is defined by whether it will cause the student to drop out of a class).
  • Show respect to all others at all times.
  • No bullying.
  • No messing around.
  • Always inform the instructor if you injure yourself during a lesson
  • Drinks should always be brought to a lesson in a screw top bottle.

Island Karate-Do

  • Always bow upon entering and leaving the Dojo.
  • Always refer to the instructor as 'Sensei' (teacher).
  • No spectators (except for exceptional circumstances agreed with the Sensei).
  • If you need to adjust your Gi, turn, kneel on one knee and return to standing when finished.
  • When asked a question, always reply with "oss Sensei" (this means that you understand and that you will try your very hardest)
  • If you do not understand an instruction, raise your hand and ask.
  • If you want to wear a top under your Gi, it must also be white.
  • Trousers may not be worn under Gi bottoms.
  • Club badges must be sewn onto your Gi.

Young Dragons Club

  • Always raise your hand if you need to ask a question.
  • Always ask if you need a drink, or a toilet break, do not just leave.
  • Always be friendly and polite.
  • Do not run in class unless told to.
  • Do not leave class at the end of a session without a parent or suitable guardian.
  • Always call the teacher 'mr............, or miss...........' I.e. Mr Johnson.

Fight-uk

  • Always move around the gym carefully
  • Do not use any equipment you have not been shown how to use, or that you are unsure of. The club will not be held responsible for injury under these circumstances.
  • Always treat any partner with respect.
  • Any disputes will be resolved by the instructor.
  • No fighting without the correct pads.
  • MEMBERS ONLY, non-members may spectate for a £1 fee.
  • If the facilities or service are misused or abused, we reserve the right to close the club immediately with no refunds.

We reserve the right to eject and ban any student, in any club found to be in breach of any of the above rules.
